It’s 1997, Rossland
is introduced to the Mountain Gypsy Café. The restaurant
is aptly named for its two owners, couple Geoff Hampson
and Lindsay Wong. For the next 8 years, the restaurant
is a legendary dining experience. Geoff, an Australian
chef for over 30 years, brings a combination of culinary
expertise, worldly travels and a tremendous passion for
great food and wine.
Over the years the Mountain Gypsy Café enjoyed
a number of awards, including:

It’s 2005, the Mountain Gypsy moves full time to
its sister location at the ski hill, “The Gypsy
At Red”, operating since 2003.
In 2006, Geoff Hampson succumbed to cancer and passed
away. Despite a couple of tumultuous years in both personal
and business, Lindsay is pleased and gratified to have
the “Gypsy” in full operation; in honour of
her late husband and partner.
